The featured jellyfish chandelier slowly rolls through colors as background colors shift across the ceiling and walls. This view is from the 'living room' of the hotel, where guests are attracted to sounds of ocean waves and custom-composed sonic landscapes.

Animated lighting effects provide both practical illumination and story-emphasizing textures to walls and ceilings. The following two examples illustrate how this is achieved.
In Monterey, CA, on the shore of famous Monterey Bay, an interior stair corridor has become a topic of conversation as guests climb from the main level to second level conference rooms. Center to the visual impression is a hand-made fiberoptic chandelier suggestive of a gentle jellyfish drifting on an undersea current. Chandelier colors slowly evolve against a backdrop of slow-moving water ripples. The overall effect is one of walking beneath the ocean, which is apropos since the hotel is located down the street from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and even closer to the Pacific Ocean itself. Hotel guests often take their bar drink to these stairs to sit and enjoy the calming ambient soundtrack as pastel hues gradually shift.
Up the coast in San Francisco, CA, the Steinhart Aquarium, part of the California Academy of Sciences, displays animated water ripples across the walls of several exhibits. While observing live creatures through a glass portal, the peripheral view of patrons becomes filled with subtle motion to imply they are in the water space.
